“Fender’s was awesome. So many legendary punk, reggae, ska and mod shows happened there. It was a total dive. In the best way. The place had so much vibe…like the vibe was literally dripping off the walls. It was all about the music and the bands. It felt raw and dangerous, like shit was going to go off at any moment.  We played there a bunch of times in our early years, opening for Fishbone or The Untouchables or doing our own shows. I loved that place.”

Vintage mod shirt

Vintage Mod Sweater-T shirt

March 14, 1987

Worn by Tony to a No Doubt show at Fender's Ballroom, March 14, 1987.

Tony: "Ok so I went to school with the original drummer of No Doubt, Chris Webb. Chris came up to me one day and said he is in a new band and they are about to play their first club show and would I want to check it out because they didn’t like their bass player. So I went to that show on March 14, 1987, bought the blue shirt, was in the audience (I have the ticket on my wall) and a week or so later, I tried out for the band and got in. So my first show was about a month later, April 19th at Ginos."
